Spend a relaxing or fun-filled day on one of Opatija’s wonderful beaches

After sightseeing in Opatija, there’s nothing more soothing and relaxing for the mind than going to the beach, sunbathing, swimming and reading your favourite book in the shade or splashing in the sea with your kids. Opatija has many nice beaches for couples or families with children and they are spread all the way from Volosko to Lovran alongside Lungomare promenade.

Črnikovica a pebble and concrete beach located on the very entrance of Volosko is ideal beach for picigin (a game played with small ball with main goal not to be dropped in the sea) or volleyball in the sea. There are also restaurants, bars, sanitary facilities and showers nearby so you can enjoy your beach day from morning to evening.

Moving further from Volosko and closer to Opatija there are two beaches nearby, Lipovica and Tomaševac, ideal for families with children.

Lipovica beautiful pebble beach that also has a small playground in shade behind her (for children age 5-10 years). Those who love swimming, scuba diving and picigin will love this beach, and it is even suitable for those who are just learning to swim. This beach also has sanitary facilities and showers and it is near food and beverage facilities. You can access this beach even from Nova cesta main road if you are coming from direction of Rijeka. Just park in sport hall Marino Cvetković and follow the stairs that lead down to the beach.

Tomaševac also called Children’s beach Tomaševac, is ideal beach for families with children. Located just beneath Hotel Ambasador this pebble and concrete beach is one parents and children love the most. With its water slide, children’s playground with pirate ship, swings and other sport activities children can enjoy playing and parents can rent deck chairs and beach umbrellas and relax or have a cold beverage in bar next to playground while still having their children in sight view. After your day on the sea you can shower and change in changing cabins and go on your night out in town or have a grill or buffet dinner Hotel Ambasador just above the beach.

Slatina the main town beach located in center Opatija extends from Portić (Opatija's small harbor) to bus stop and Hotel Palace Bellevue. It is mainly concrete beach with two parts that are smooth sand, one where you can play wallyball and other where the children playground is. There is also a trampoline and floating water playground opposite them. Enjoy the sea and sun from rented deck chair under umbrella or from a safe shade in one of near buy coffee bar or restaurant.

If you brought your favorite friend to vacation with you, a nice Dog beach for your pet is on the Lungomare between Opatija and Ičići called Beach on Punta kolovo. Beach is divided from regular ones with cliffs and it is fenced to promenade so it is secure for your pet to enjoy swimming. It also has hygienic equipment and rinse aid near.
