About Villa
The magnificent story of this Opatija villa began back in 1890. The Villa Amalia (4*) is the annexe to the Hotel Kvarner. It is situated right by the sea along the famous Lungomare seafront promenade in Opatija. Surrounded by a lush green park dotted with Mediterranean and exotic plants, it soon became a popular winter health resort for the Austro-Hungarian aristocracy. This villa was also the favourite choice of the German imperial family and the charismatic American dancer Isadora Duncan, who found inspiration for her dance movements in the fluttering of the palms that grew next to the villa. The Opatija sculptor Tatjana Kostanjević created a sculpture of her that is today situated in front of the villa.
The Villa Amalia is located next to the Hotel Kvarner, and its guests can enjoy all the hotel's services and amenities, including conference halls, an outdoor pool and the beach. There is also the world-famous Crystal Hall. The adjacent Hotel Kvarner boasts one of the most beautiful terraces in Opatija, where guests can enjoy excellent Mediterranean cuisine, top-quality wines and selected desserts such as the Opatija Camellia cake.
Renovated historical villa
Opatija's Villa Amalia has a rich history. It was built in the same style as the Hotel Kvarner for the wealthy clientele of the period. Royal and imperial families from Austria, Germany and Romania, along with numerous other dignitaries, found Opatija to be a top holiday destination in the late 19th century.

A beach with a sandy sea floor is located at Opatija's first and most famous bathing establishment, Angiolina Bad, today known as the Lido. In the evening, the lounge bar right next the beach provides a romantic atmosphere, perfect for enjoying the magnificent view of the sea and a cocktail of your choice. Also, do not forget to take a walk in the Sveti Jakov and Angiolina parks, which are home to more than 150 plant species.
